What is “Inventive Thinking and Creative Thinking” and How can it be Applied?

What Is Invention?

An invention is a phenomenon that is the reproducible function of the need to create something new and new, obtained by curious individuals, using agile and unusual approaches that are not afraid of failure, with the help of clues that they have noticed by observing nature carefully. It may require courage, patience, rigour and teamwork.

Is creativity an innate ability, or can it be learned?

Human intelligence is the innate genetic character of all humans. However, intelligence alone is not enough for invention. Because the ability to invent is not genetic, but a function of intelligence that needs to be learned. Therefore, in order to be able to invent, you need to learn and develop the ability to think creatively.

What is creative / creative thinking?

The ability to think creatively or invent is the art of developing new things or methods that are easier, more economical, healthier, faster, more precise, stronger and more environmentally friendly using our imagination and knowledge. In other words, whenever you try to do something better, it becomes an act of creativity.

How can Creative Thinking be improved?

I explained the answer to this question in the following 11 chapters. Each of these ideas is just as important as the others and will help you develop your creative thinking.
Feel the necessity:

“Needs are the mother of invention”” If it doesn’t require something new or any new method, you can’t invent it. Therefore, you must first be aware that something new needs to be developed; this innovation is necessary. For once, you must observe carefully what needs to be improved, apply your imagination, knowledge and positive attitude, and work tirelessly without letting failures scare you.

Need an example:

Employees in a workplace cannot plan their time well, and as a result many meetings start and end late, work productivity is strained and their schedules cannot be met. You are aware of the situation and you believe that something needs to be done to fix things. After talking to employees, you understand that their clocks and desk clocks are out of sync, and you see that this is really what you observe by researching. You brainstorm: “how can I be sure that every clock is synchronized?” And you can examine all the ideas put forward, no matter how unreasonable. You’re attracted to the idea of a radio receiver showing time as if it were; you’re trying to synchronize all the clocks with centrally transmitted radio waves, and you’re successful. This invention (radio-controlled clocks) is now successfully distributed in almost half the world. In many countries, desk clocks, and even clocks, can be easily synchronized via radio waves. With this fairly simple technique, invention eliminates time discrepancies between individuals and institutions and facilitates communication.

The work to be done after accepting the necessity is very careful observation. You have to observe your surroundings very carefully, and the things around you (tools, clothes, household items, etc.).) You should try to think about how it can be made better. If what you observe is a way to do or do something, thinking about improvements can also lead you to new inventions.

Be knowledgeable:

” Can not have ideas without knowledge ” (Uğur Mumcu). To invent something, you have to study the work done, at least in part, in the relevant field. Knowing the substance in detail can sometimes limit the scope of the ideas you put forward and thus hinder your invention. But if you want to invent in a field you don’t know in detail, you should definitely include knowledgeable people in the field in brainstorming sessions.

Brainstorming allows you to find new ways to solve problems by solving the rules you take out of the routines of thinking you’re used to. There are routines we create to do business at home and at work. These are often referred to as habits. These habits are appropriate in that they allow people to automatically solve problems without having too much thought. However, habits are the result of people starting to think without evaluating the specific and changing conditions and new requirements brought about by new and encountered problems. When faced with new problems, creative people should be forced to break from habits and at least look at the problem from a different perspective. Brainstorming is a method that facilitates creative thinking, where all thoughts can be met without critical anxiety.

Be prepared for invention:

“You can only get enough water from a waterfall to fill your glass.” This saying points to people’s different capacities to take advantage of opportunities. You have to be ready to find new things and get new ideas to offer you. In order to do that, you have to study the subject thoroughly and make it a part of your life. Reading a book, watching a film, encountering an event can only understand it according to its own limits and make inferences from it only according to its previous knowledge. If you do not have the necessary information, you may not even be aware of your invention.

In a memoir, renowned physicist Stephen Hawking describes how a student was disturbed by a student’s idea of black holes, and wrote an article arguing that rather than devour anything approaching them, they could actually leave things behind and that the idea was not true. . Since his student was not so sure (he was not prepared for the invention), he did not make the idea in an article. A few years later, Hawking mathematically proved that his idea, which his student had come up with and which he did not accept at the time (since he was not prepared for the invention), was true and emphasized that it was not fair to his student in his memory. It’s about invention. This invention later made Hawking famous for his black hole studies.

To get to the bottom of a material, you have to empathize to the extent that you are the subject / thing / Matter itself. When you put yourself in your place, you’ll understand him better. “To express something in the best way you have to stop being yourself and be what you want to express,” said Constantin Stanislavksy, a master of Russian theatre. Therefore, imagining what you would feel if you were something / tool / method used to solve the problem, and what you would find appropriate and effective in such a scenario, may be useful for finding a solution.

Get creative:

As Einstein said,”Imagination is more important than knowledge, because while knowledge is what we now know and understand, imagination probably encompasses everything we can create and learn.” Imagination can sometimes lead us to things that don’t make sense. As Einstein put it,”if we all thought logically, we couldn’t get past the Stone Age.” And again, as the great thinker put it, “if a new idea doesn’t sound crazy to you when you first hear it, it’s hopeless.” Having a slightly odd edge is useful for creative thinking. Maybe, to invent, you have to be “obsessed” with something. In this way, when you feel tired, sleepy or completely relaxed, where conscious thinking and inhibitions are partially suppressed, you can get a revolutionary insight into the subject you’re obsessed with. You should immediately write down the strange and sometimes crazy ideas you get in such situations.

Dare to break down what is known or thought to be known:

According to Theodor Adorno, “science needs irrationality”. The scientist should never be based on scientific rules or ideas that are known or accepted; he should constantly question and criticize them and be prepared to bring them down if he can find his weaknesses. As Albert Einstein once said,”the world is a product of our thinking, and therefore we cannot change the world without changing our thinking.”

Make a habit of producing new alternatives:

To achieve this, I suggest you make a habit of solving things you don’t know, solving puzzles, attending seminars / conferences, talking to different people you don’t know anything about, going to different routes on and off the road home. working and making different dishes. In other words, avoid routine chores and incidents when possible to improve your ability to produce alternatives.

Let’s say you’re given a lemon and asked how many different ways you can get your juice for it. Many of the methods proposed for this ordinary job will be well known. But if you’re in the habit of producing alternatives, you can get hundreds of ideas, some of which will be new and unusual. When you eliminate the normal and expected ideas, the remaining ideas can turn you into a new invention.

Promote invention in your workplace:

Creativity is not a personal matter; it has to be about the environment. Traditional workplaces have a hierarchy and a disciplined structure. Today, the concept of a more comfortable workplace that promotes cooperation is developing. Many companies understand that a quality workplace leads to better performance and begin to create a new creative work environment. Today, every new workplace should see the environment as an area of creativity. An environment should be created in which people can put forward their ideas and support each other without anxiety.

Taking shortcuts at work, belittling other people’s ideas, stress, physical overcrowding (items, pictures, writing, etc.), Lack of environmental treatment in providing privacy in the workplace are among the major reasons hindering creative work. in the workplace.
